Skomaker bek er en blanding av milebrent tj\u00e6re, harpiks (cholophonium) og Bivoks.
Varm 1\/3 L til det nesten koker, ikke bobler men det er litt sm\u00e5syding.
Shoemakers use a blend of tar (from wood, not petrochemical), cholophonium and beeswax. I start off with a 0.3 liter or 1\/2 pint of tar. I melt a handfull of cholophonium at at time(I measure the weight of the bag I poured from, before and after finish) Do this outside, or suffer the smell and pain. A gasmask is simply a smart choice<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bland inn harpiks en spisesje om gangen. Kok utend\u00f8rs. Gassmaske er et godt valg, jeg bor p\u00e5 g\u00e5rd og ikke en byg\u00e5rd med naboer som plages.
R\u00f8r om. Ta en dr\u00e5pe i en kopp med vann for \u00e5 pr\u00f8ve hvordan blandingen utvikler seg. Den skal v\u00e6re hard og ikke klisse mellom tennene. Ikke bit over for mye!
Test the blend with a few drops in cold wather. The finished blend is hard not slightly soft, and do not stick to your teeth. Do not bite over too much!<\/em>

Der skal den avkj\u00f8le seg.
Denne blandingen skal varmes opp i vannbad og tilsettes tilsvarende mengde bivoks.
Det kan v\u00e6re lurt \u00e5 ikke blande opp mer enn 1-2 dl om gangen. Den er dr\u00f8y i bruk.
Let the blend cool. It will be heated again in a tin heated by boiling wather.
The wood on top holds the tin down and it keeps the heat in.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bivoksblandingen skal ikke bli for myk og klissete, det er for mye bivoks.
Er blandingen for hard vil den ikke trekke inn i tr\u00e5den, for lite bivoks.
Harpiksen gj\u00f8r at den biter seg til tr\u00e5den.
Det er mange egenskaper i disse tre ingrediensene som ikke jeg greier ut for i innlegget.
Om du blander alt i et brygg, er det ikke lett \u00e5 vite hva som er hva og hva som skal minkes eller \u00f8kes.
The blend is a half and half between tar\/cholophonium and beeswax. Melt the tar first, then as it is fluid blend in bits of the beeswax, small will melt sooner.
Drip a few drops in the wather to test the new brew. Test it on a linen thread.
If it is too soft (allmost «wet») and sticky, too much beeswax. If it too hard and bites the thread allmost tears it without sinking in to the fibers, too little then.
Go easy on the beeswax as it is somewhat easier to blend in to a softer blend, than to harden it back with more cholophonium.

The hot is poured in to a cool pot (for this use only) wait a minute an squeeze it gently, so the hot pours in to the wather and cools in small parts. Part in a size that lies well in your hand. It must be folded in a lump that lets the small wather drops out and becomes an even mass. Test it on the linen thread.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Jeg mener at blandingen min har for mye bivoks, da jeg dro klumpen i to kjentes det som fudge. Luftig. Den m\u00e5 kj\u00f8le seg ned s\u00e5 kan jeg kjenne bedre og pr\u00f8ve den p\u00e5 en tr\u00e5d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
